A glass of water will stop your hunger
“Before you grab a snack — grab a glass. ” My name is Dr. Gudrun Hetzel and today I'll show you how you can positively influence your feeling of satiety with a simple glass of water.
Thirst instead of hunger
Often we're not really hungry at all, but dehydrated. The desire for a quick snack is then nothing more than a signal from our body: “Please give me something (ser)! ”
If we drink a large glass of water before eating, the feeling of satiety can significantly improve. The stomach expands and the brain registers “fullness” — appetite decreases. A culinary experience that requires no calories or effort. And it works as simple as that: drink a glass of water and wait a few minutes. After that, a feeling of satiety sets in all by itself.
A glass of water makes the difference
A glass of still mineral water before a meal often works better than any snack. It gently fills the stomach and activates a natural feeling of satiety via stretch receptors — without any additional calories. Especially during fasting or intermittent fasting, this simple trick can help to bridge cravings and prepare the body for the next meal.
Digestion also benefits from this. The water stimulates digestive juices and optimally prepares the gastrointestinal tract. At the same time, your blood sugar level remains more stable, so you are protected from classic energy fluctuations and cravings.
Last but not least, regular, conscious drinking improves the connection to your body awareness. You learn to tell the difference: Is it real hunger or just a momentary desire? This makes a glass of water an effective tool for conscious nutrition and greater awareness in everyday life.

Fasting hiking in Menschels — an experience report
I've been toying with the idea of spending a fasting vacation in Germany for a long time. Out for a week. Not only from everyday life, but also from old habits. I opted for fasting hiking at Menschels Vitalresort, a special offer that combines therapeutic fasting to Buchinger with daily hikes, medical care, treatments, relaxation and nature. It was a structured retreat, both physically and mentally.
