Between high-tech and healing clay: Menschel's Vitalresort in the FAZ press

In its 21 July 2026 edition, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) examined the current trend of seeking to extend life expectancy. The article focused on health promises, high-tech applications from Silicon Valley, cryotherapy and dietary supplements, asking what can actually contribute to a long and healthy life.

A visit for the FAZ report

In early July, an editor and two photographers from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) visited the Menschels Vitalresort as part of their research. Michael Altewischer, founder of the German Longevity Society, arranged the visit. The journalists spent several hours conducting interviews, learning about the resort's background and gathering information for their report. The focus was on why the topic of longevity is currently receiving so much attention and the role of traditional health concepts in this context.

The Felke therapy method sparked particular interest. The clay bath, in specific, was an unfamiliar treatment for the editorial team, offering a fascinating contrast to the technologies and self-optimisation strategies often associated with longevity today. The article therefore touches on this aspect with a nod and a wink, without losing sight of its naturopathic background.

In addition to the clay and healing earth treatments, the editor was very interested in the things that have defined our resort for generations, such as our family tradition, the fact that we are medically supervised, our focus on prevention, and our approach to ageing. The piece also mentioned that many guests have been returning to us for years, even decades. It also highlighted the resort's tranquil setting in the Nahe Valley, surrounded by vineyards.

The article contrasts different approaches to extending healthspan. Rather than providing a simple answer to the question of what constitutes a long and healthy life, it encourages readers to consider the topic from various perspectives. In this context, the FAZ presents Menschels Vitalresort as an alternative to technology-driven concepts of longevity, characterised by naturopathy, personal guidance and a health culture evolved over generations.

We would like to thank the FAZ team for their visit and for their thoughtful perspective on a topic that is currently receiving a great deal of attention.
